Vintage return

The boys from the Fila end have launched their bid for victory with the Tiebreak top among others. The vintage top sported by both McEnroe and Borg has wonderful stripe collar detail, cuffs and waistband with contrasting shoulder and bottom panels.

The top comes in a softer cotton finish and of course sport the Fila badge embroidered on the chest.

The top also comes in a colour called Chinese red as opposed the dark peacoat and has contrast grey panels on the bottom.

The improved quality of these garments cannot be underestimated, they really are a huge step forward for a label that has only ever dealt in massive strides ahead of the pack. The attention to detail and finish is sure to earn the label the respect some its designs really deserve.

The range also boasts the BB1 T-shirt which has smaller Italian white collars than on previous T-shirts, this top features the tight red placket with three matching popper fasteners and white banding on the bottom of each arm. A sheer finish on the fabric is of a far higher quality than before, the shirt also sports the double badge BJ style but with the numbers 76 on the furthest badge, the year the shirt was originally released.

The fabric adds a tighter finish to the garment and comes in navy or blue, which is more of an electric blue, with blue collars and white contrast placket and navy banding on the arms.

The Bjorna navy and blue tennis pants also boast a double badge this time with the number 80 on the far badge, along with two red and white contrast stripes on the hip of the trousers just by the pockets. These slim fit pants are a must for any tracksuit fans.

Rounding off the fight with a wining stroke the Johannesburg Pac-a-Macs is something special indeed.

Coming in navy with contrast red zip, blue with red zip and red with white, all the jackets boast a transparent logo, mesh inner lining and have zip up style fastening.

The two side pockets are double handy when it rains and the shower proof jacket will be a winter most of the year round, with our reliable summer weather.

Each jacket has a contrast lining with the blue sporting a yellow finish, the red has a navy and the navy has a white inner.

So time to take sides and get ready to rumble me thinks.

The summer of love is back thanks to Fila

IN many views it is classed as the greatest summer to ever grace this sceptred isle. The first flight of Concorde, the hottest summer on modern records, QPR nearly won the title, well that was my bit, but mainly the release of the Fila Settanta tracksuit. So does that mean that with the celebratory release of the 'new' 76 range mean we are set for another stunner of a summer? Let's hope so.

The top, which in many ways is the daddy of tracksuit tops, sported by the Swedish tennis king of Wimbledon Bjorn Borg, the modern version of the top sports the double badge synonymous with the Settanta, but replacing the BJ badge with the year of its origination.

Coming in the iconic red and navy versions, the range also sports a track jacket known as the blue Bjorna.

The Settanta has to be the first milestone in track suit tops since the item was originally invented for the Bayern Munich team, and with the legend that became Borg, Fila chose the right man to wear it.

The Settanta is possibly the most iconic mark for people to identify with and the red and navy tops come in a slim fit, with ribbed collar, cuffs and waistband, with white under arms and red or navy outer as well as main body.

Two pockets and the Fila badge on the main front zip, all you really have to do is slide your hands in the pockets once the garment is on and the halcyon days are rekindled.

It is very difficult to ion down the importance of this top, so it is nice that Fila have given it an second outing.

The Bjorna is the second in the range, classed as a Matchday jacket it comes in a new 'updated' colour of blue, a light blue with yellow banding across the top to the chest and blue and navy piping over the left shoulder.

The year badge is different in accordance with the jackets original release date, so the Bjorna MK2 sports 80 in the second badge.

The high collar and elasticated waistband make this a completely different beast the Mk1 and it is interesting to see where the fashion was going with tracksuit tops of the time, and prove this garment still holds its own.

Fila Settanta Mark 1 Green/Cream

The Fila Settanta Mark 1 was the first design by Björn Borg in a line of 3 different 'Borg' ranges throughout his partnership with Fila ove 8 years. This was the Borg signature jacket that he wore through out his 'wonder years' at Wimbledon.

The green and cream version was the first colourway, hence the fact that they are extremely rare and very valuable. Stuarts London are your stockists of Fila Settanta jackets and other vintage Fila apparel.
